CLA is important too, being associated with increased heart health, reduced tumor growth, decreased stomach fat, and increased fat loss in overweight subjects.

Not all butter is equally beneficial though; grass-fed butter contains superior health benefits. This is because grass-fed butter has higher vitamin and antioxidant levels, higher CLA levels, and a higher omega-3 to omega-6 fatty acid ratio.

Monsanto supported GMO labeling in Europe, but not in US

(NaturalNews) By far the biggest opponent to California’s Proposition 37, the upcoming ballot initiative that would require genetically-modified (GM) foods to be properly labeled, is biotechnology giant Monsanto, which has already forked over at least $4.3 million towards efforts to kill the bill. But a little more than a decade ago, Monsanto was actually leading the charge in promoting GMO labeling in the U.K., where the company actually ran advertisements in favor of food ingredient transparency.

“Before you buy a potato, or any other food, you may want to know whether it’s the product of food biotechnology,” said one Monsanto ad that ran in the U.K. following the European Union’s (EU) approval for mandatory GMO labels back in 1997. “We have complete confidence that our food crops are as safe and nutritious as the standard alternatives,” it added, attempting to make the case through marketing means that GMOs were nothing about which people should worry.

Monsanto actually ran several different promotional campaigns around the turn of the century in the U.K. that explained to consumers how they would soon begin noticing the labeling changes on food packages. These campaigns were specifically designed to alert the public to “be aware” of the presence of GMOs in food so they would be fully informed as to what they were buying. Monsanto, in other words, was apparently very proud of its biotechnological developments at that time, and wanted everyone to know about them.

“[The campaign] ran in 1998-1999, was in the U.K. only, and was supportive of efforts by retailers to position their products with their customers,” said Tom Helscher, a Monsanto spokesman, to Mercury News.

Fast forward to 2012; however, and Monsanto is doing everything it can to stop GMO labeling laws from being enacted in California or elsewhere in the U.S. Why Monsanto pushed so heavily in favor of GMO labeling in the U.K. a little more than a decade ago, but is now so vehemently against GMO labeling in the U.S., is not entirely clear. But it likely has something to do with the dozens of GMO safety studies that have since emerged linking biotechnology to organ damage, reproductive problems, autoimmune disorders, and cancer.

It also probably has something to do with the fact that Monsanto’s pro-GMO labeling ads in the U.K. arrived after GMO labeling laws had already been enacted across Europe. If GMOs were going to be labeled anyway, why would Monsanto not attempt to spin the situation and make it appear as though the company not only approves of GMO labeling, but also endorses it- Such tactics are common among corporations.

The only problem is that Monsanto is, at this moment, quickly sinking into an obvious mire of hypocrisy as the public learns that the company actually supported GMO labeling before it opposed it. Whatever best suits the corporate giant’s own interests; in other words, is the position it is going to take at any given time. And this is why it will be no surprise when Prop. 37 passes on November 6 in California to learn that Monsanto is once again shifting gears in support of GMO labeling, complete with outrageous claims that GMOs are safe and identical to real food.

Sheryl Crow says cellular phone radiation could have caused her brain tumor

(NaturalNews) Back in June, singer and songwriter Sheryl Crow told Las Vegas Review-Journal reporter Doug Elfman that she had a brain tumor, confirming suspicions held by some that Crow’s failure to remember the lyrics to one of her most famous hit songs at a show earlier in the year was more than just a consequence of growing old. Crow also says she noticed that her memory had been increasingly failing her prior to the diagnosis, and that she was having more and more trouble thinking clearly, both factors of which seemed to correlate with her excessive phone use habits.

Though none of her doctors have been willing to confirm or even entertain her suspicions, Crow’s own account of her excessive mobile phone use over the years seems to point to the possibility that such activity may have been the cause of her tumor. And this is very serious because, despite being considered benign, meningiomas can still invade surrounding tissues and spread to other organs — in some cases, meningiomas can actually be fatal.

But do Crow’s suspicions about cell phone use potentially causing cancer have any scientific validity- Data compiled as part of the comprehensive Interphone Study actually seems to confirm Crow’s theory, having revealed that heavy cell phone use significantly increases brain cancer risk. A presentation given at the 32nd Annual Bioelectromagnetics Society meeting in South Korea back in 2010 claimed that Interphone Study data showed an even high risk of cancer from cell phone use. He admits that at first he was skeptical about chemtrail reports until he began noticing them himself. Many still deny their existence even when they see them. Blaylock has become aware of their aluminum content. He explains that aluminum nanoparticles can enter the brain and spinal cord quickly through the lungs and nostrils, adding that nanopartilces are much more inflammatory to tissue than other forms of environmental aluminum.

He sees a connection of chemtrails’ aluminum deposits to the rise of neurodegenerative diseases, especially among young people. He’s talking about Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and Lou Gehrig’s diseases, not autism spectrum disorders from vaccines, which Dr. Blaylock has covered extensively.

Dr. Blaylock also expressed concern over the saturation of plant, crop life, and water with aluminum nanoparticles. He thinks chemtrailing must be curbed before it’s too late to minimize the threat of constant aluminum toxicity surrounding us. (Source 2 below)

GMO alert: Eating GM wheat may destroy your liver, warn scientists

(NaturalNews) Genetically engineered wheat contains an enzyme suppressor that, when consumed by humans, could cause permanent liver failure (and death). That’s the warning issued today by molecular biologist Jack Heinemann of the University of Canterbury in Australia.

Heinemann has published an eye-opening report that details this warning and calls for rigorous scientific testing on animals before this crop is ever consumed by humans. The enzyme suppressor in the wheat, he says, might also attack a human enzyme that produces glycogen. Consumers who eat genetically modified wheat would end up contaminating their bodies with this enzyme-destroying wheat, causing their own livers to be unable to produce glycogen, a hormone molecule that helps the body regulate blood sugar metabolism. This, in turn, would lead to liver failure.

“What we found is that the molecules created in this wheat, intended to silence wheat genes, can match human genes, and through ingestion, these molecules can enter human beings and potentially silence our genes,” said Heinemann in a press conference on the threat of GM wheat (http://www.youtube.com/watch-v=FI7n_caiTvE).

“We found over 770 pages of potential matches between these two genes in wheat and the human genome,” he continued. “We found over a dozen matches that are extensive and identical, and sufficient to cause silencing in experimental systems. The findings are absolutely assured. There’s no doubt that these matches exist. …from this information, we know that it’s plausible there will be an adverse effect and therefore that’s why we’re calling for a particular battery of experiments to be done before humans eat this wheat.”

Professor Judy Carman, biochemist and director of the IHER, Flinders University, Adelaide, added: “If this silences the same sort of gene in us — as it silences in the wheat — then, well, children who are born with this enzyme not working tend to die by the age of about five. And adults with this problem, just kind of get more and more sick, and more and more tired, until they get very very ill indeed.”

She continues, “Before this comes near any human feeding studies, you need to undertake thorough animal safety assessments, where you actually look to see if the animals get sick. So you need to see if this genetic modification survives digestion and gets into the bodies of the animals. You need to see what effect it has on them. You need to do proper long-term toxicology studies… you need to check for cancer, you need to see if there are any reproductive problems, and you need to check for allergies…”

Micronutrient deficiencies could cause DNA damage

(NaturalNews) All of us, identical twins excepted, are genetically unique. Of course, everyone’s genes encode all the proteins needed for life, but the sum total of all our biochemical processes varies considerably from person to person. One of the consequences of this genetically determined biochemical individuality is that different people have quantitatively different needs for the nutritionally important minerals, vitamins, essential amino acids, etc.

In his book, Biochemical Individuality, biochemist and nutrition pioneer Roger Williams showed that requirements for any given nutrient may vary from person to person by a factor of five or more. Given the large number of genes affecting metabolic processes, it is likely that all of us have at least some nutritional needs that fall well outside the so-called normal range. These exceptional needs might be due to differences in digestion, absorption, excretion, enzyme patterns or other causes.

Biochemical individuality may well explain why clinical trials fail to find nutrients effective in disease prevention. These trials typically include participants chosen at random and test nutrients in amounts judged adequate for most people. Participants with average needs for the nutrient in question may have that need met by their diet plus any supplements they might take on their own; for them, the ‘therapy’ confers no further benefit. For people with exceptional needs, on the other hand, diet plus daily supplements, plus “therapy” might still not be enough to reach therapeutically effective nutrient levels – the levels needed to ensure proper functioning.

Essential nutrients are substances that the body cannot make, or cannot make in adequate amounts. Given the sad state of today’s diet, it is more than likely that many of our chronic “lifestyle” diseases are the result of dietary shortcomings and will; therefore, respond to dietary interventions. Unmet nutritional needs will sooner or later lead to health problems.

The science of nutrition has made tremendous strides since Williams’s book was published. It is now recognized that the gene-nutrient connection is a two-way street. Not only do nutrient requirements depend on genetic individuality but nutrients in turn are crucial for genome stability; they act as antioxidants and co-factors for enzymes involved in DNA metabolism and repair. In fact, genome damage caused by even moderate micronutrient deficiencies rivals damage from environmental factors like chemical carcinogens or radiation.

The sharp drop in the cost of gene sequencing has now made it possible to screen individual patients for biomarkers of DNA vulnerability to micronutrient deficiencies, prescribe the appropriate nutritional therapy, and assess the effect of that therapy on DNA stability. Instead of diagnosing and treating diseases caused by genome damage, one can identify and nutritionally prevent the most fundamental initiating cause of developmental and degenerative disease-genome damage itself.

Of course, we still need to take good care of ourselves or all the gene therapy will be for naught.

Researchers have long known that EGCG is a potent anti-oxidant and the Chinese scientists wanted to see if the natural compound has a specific, beneficial effect against age-related degenerative diseases, especially those that cause problems with brain function.

“We proposed that EGCG can improve cognitive function by impacting the generation of neuron cells, a process known as neurogenesis,” Dr. Bai explained. “We focused our research on the hippocampus, the part of the brain which processes information from short-term to long-term memory.”

The research showed that, in fact, EGCG boosts the production of neural progenitor cells. Like stem cells, these brain cells can turn into various types of cells. In order to see if this increased brain cell production could boost memory or spatial learning, the scientists ran tests on two groups of lab mice. One group was given EGCG from green tea in a drink and the other group didn’t receive the EGCG. Then the mice were trained for three days to find a visible platform in their maze and also trained for seven days to find a hidden platform.

The scientists discovered that the mice who had had imbibed EGCG from green tea needed far less time to find the hidden platform. Bottom line: EGCG enhances learning and memory by improving object recognition as well as spatial memory.

“We have shown that the organic chemical EGCG acts directly to increase the production of neural progenitor cells, both in glass tests and in mice,” Dr. Bai concluded. “This helps us to understand the potential for EGCG, and green tea which contains it, to help combat degenerative diseases and memory loss.”

While the new study involved mice, it raises the distinct possibility that green tea could hold the key to treat memory problems in humans — something Big Pharma’s chemical drug concoctions have failed to do successfully.

Secret Apple employee training manual reveals company to be a kooky techno cult

(NaturalNews) Is Apple Inc., maker of the wildly popular iPod, iPad, iPhone and Macbook Pro really just one big cult- If not, the company seems to be training its employees as if they belonged to some cult-like movement, rather than one of the world’s premier electronics manufacturers.

According to tech-savvy website Gizmodo.com, which claimed to have obtained a copy of Apple’s employee manual, you can tell right away that something is way out of the ordinary. Titled, “Genius Training,” the “student workbook” wastes no time in telling “its new recruits exactly what to think and say,” the website said.

“It’s a penetrating look inside Apple: psychological mastery, banned words, roleplaying – you’ve never seen anything like it,” says the site.

Inside the workbook is a wide-ranging scope of activities Apple does, and does not, want employees to engage in, right up to and including what the company wants employees to say and think. No doubt Apple wants its employees to embrace a particular message and corporate culture, but the “training” includes far-reaching bans on certain words, as well as techniques on how to identify certain human emotions and use them to their advantage.

“The manual could easily serve as the Humanity 101 textbook for a robot university, but at Apple, it’s an exhaustive manual [into] understanding customers and making them happy,” says Gizmodo.com.

Happy customers are spending customers

Apparently Apple execs believe they’ve cornered the market on many of their products because sales training seems to take a backseat to humanities. Nearly the entire workbook deals with empathizing, consoling, cheering folks up. It looks as if the assumption the tech giant makes is that making a customer happy will lead to more sales – a happy customer is a spending customer. Apple looks to be training employees who use the psychology of getting inside your head to the company’s overall advantage.

“Before you can don the blue shirt and go to work with the job title of “Genius” every business day of your life, you have to complete a rigorously regimented, intricately scheduled training program,” says Gizmodo.com. For two weeks, new hires are exposed to such diverse – and seemingly unrelated – courses such as “Using Diagnostic Services,” “Component Isolation,” and “The Power of Empathy.”

The goal of this two-week “boot camp” is to flood your mind with Genius Actions and Characterizations, which are listed on a “What” and “How” list on page seven of the manual. It reads like word association: What does a Genius do- Educates. How- “Gracefully.” The Genius also “Takes Ownership” “Emphatically,” and “Recommends” “Persuasively.”

“The basic idea here, despite all the verbiage, is simple: Become strong while appearing compassionate; persuade while seeming passive, and empathize your way to a sale,” Gizmodo.com said.

No question about it: This is psychological training, but then again, it is training that produces the best tech help you will find when you hit the retail world. Compared to other big box retail outlets, employees of Apple stores are “bar none the most helpful and knowledgeable of any large retail operation,” says the tech-savvy site.

More than just about anything else, Apple employees are there to make sure you’re a happy customer, but always with a goal of selling you something, for the manual also intones, “Everyone in the Apple Store is in the business of selling.”

Genius: I can see how you’d feel this way. I felt the price was a little high, but I found it’s a real value because of all the built-in software and capabilities.
